Finally bought more portable stuff from apple... And find that it really changes the way I do things. Like their marketing says it would. Ok I believe them now.
Too many things have changed. Even my body anatomy has changed slightly with the removal of a supposedly redundant organ... What I'm most worried is that there may be an underlying cause to all the digestive troubles I've been having the past couple of years and it may lead to the deterioration of other organs and it might be too late when the real cause is determined ...
Anyway midnight is not a good time to blog when work is early the following day..

Things in progress

Piano
- Beethoven Op 2 No 1 (dip ab piece)
- JOC Piece from Vol 2: Spring Song (the least boring of all but super oozing with sweetness)
- Bach WTC 1: C# major (not the minor which has a 5-voice fugue... gave that up)
Violin
- Bach BWV 1015: Presto (getting there!)
- Borowski Adoration (sounds bad)
- Potstock Sounvenir de Sarasate (just started, LH pizzicato sounds bad)
- Scales (yes, all over again)
- Arpeggios (my worst)
- Kayser studies
Books
- "In god we doubt - confessions of a failed atheist" (sounds cute) by john humphry's. not sure if i can finish it
- "Inventing Memory" (just finished) by anne harris: quite entertaining. abt the search for ancient matriarchies in a virtual simulation world. i thought there was something wrong with the logic of programming a game without the actual answer to the question, then playing the game trying to find the answer. some nice passages but many abrupt parts and some ideas about feminism kept repeating themselves. what i liked about this book was the sumerian mythology part and how many parallels could be drawn between that and semitic religion.
- some piano pedagogy book by max campbell (can't remember the title coz i'm halfway thru and haven't touched it for some months)
- 2 others
Others
- piecing together the notes from the seminars i went to and trying to form lesson plans
- preparing for the new classes through observation of the girl i'm taking over, preparing my own kb charts, accompaniments to imitation singing pieces, and generally jumping into it
- almost forgot, i'm in the middle of preparing to get a driving licence

D - 0
M - 8 (4 grd 5s, 3 grd 2, 1 grd 3)
P - 4
one i thought would fail due to lack of practice (grd 7, 12-yr-old boy) actually passed. i'm so relieved.
the boy who failed his grd 5 violin exam last year and went to this year's violin exam in sandals and bermudas actually got merit for his grd 5 piano. i was relieved tt he did not go for his piano exam in sandals and it was above my expectations when he got merit.
a grd 2 boy who got merit was quite disappointed. me too. thought he played way better than some other students who got distinctions during the last season. ah well, different examiners, different yardsticks....
i'm glad most have passed. 3 more results to wait for....
